This blog of about twenty pages is a personal record of a twelve-day trip to Iran by two Americans, Suzan and Tim, in November 2019. Our experiences with the country and the people were so different from most Westerners’ ideas about Iran that we feel we have a mission to give people an alternate view of a country that has been in the news for a long time and will doubtless continue to make headlines.
The blog has two parts: a day-by-day narrative of where we went and what we saw and did, and a few “extras” — brief articles of background information about Iranian history and culture. Most of the photos were taken by Tim and Suzan; Sheldon Ricketts, another member of the tour group, generously allowed us to use some of his photos, which are credited in the captions.
Here are a couple of things readers need to know to get the most out of this site:
- Most, though not quite all, of the photos and other images are clickable. That is to say, if you click on them, a larger version of the image will pop up on your screen.
- We have included many links to outside sources for anyone wishing to learn more about a particular place or topic. Many of these sources go to a site called Wikiwand. For those not familiar with it, Wikiwand is a site that takes a Wikipedia page and makes it look nicer. The content is all Wikipedia; only the appearance is diffferent.
We have very much enjoyed creating this memento of our trip; we hope you will enjoy perusing it. We welcome your comments, which you can make at the bottom of any of the posts for the day by day narrative of the trip.
